Gambia News : Gambia's economy projected to grow by 5 pc

gambia The Gambian economy is projected to grow by 5 per cent this year, compared to the 5.6 per cent growth registered last year, Momodou Bamba Saho, the Governor of the Gambian Central Bank, said, PANA reported from here Friday.

Saho made the disclosure in a statement issued by the bank's Monetary Policy Committee.

According to him, despite the negative effects of the global economic crisis on Gambia's service industry, manufacturing as well as wholesale and retail trade s ectors, the country's agricultural value-added still remain strong.

He said going by survey results on Gambia's business sector, it was indicated that both economic and business activities were higher during the second quarter t h an the first quarter of 2010.
