Gambia News: Chamber of Commerce visits Dakar to drum up business

gambia he Gambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry is visiting the Senegalese capital Dakar to drum up business between the two countries.

The president of the chamber, Bai Matarr Drammeh, is leading the 12-member delegation to Senegal to discuss issues of interest to the private sector.

In Dakar, the Gambian businessmen will meet their Senegalese counterparts to explore ways of developing business transactions between the two countries.

Drammeh told journalists in Banjul that his delegation is “aspiring to eliminate the psychological barriers so that the business communities of the two countries can see each other as reliable and beneficial partners for the benefits accrued from trade would be beneficial to both countries."

He stated that the economy of Senegal cannot thrive without the active participation of Gambian businesses and vice versa.

Drammeh noted that over 65% of the cement sold in The Gambia is from Senegal.

“You also see our fruits and marine resources such as dried oysters being exported to Senegal,” he added.

"Both countries stand to benefit significantly if their private sectors fruitfully and constructively engage each other. This is all the more reason we are embarking on this particular visit to hold business talks with our counterparts in Senegal,” he said.
