Frank Boers age 79, a Dutch National, was on 31st December 2008
convicted and sentenced by the Banjul Magistrates’ Court, presided over
by Principal Magistrate Edrissa Mbai, for committing indecent practice
between males.
He was sentenced to
fine of D100, 000 in default to serve two years imprisonment with a
deportation order upon completion of his sentence.
According to the charge sheet, the convict Frank Boers in the year 2008, at Banjul
and diverse places in The Gambia, committed gross indecency with
another male person by exposing himself nude, and thereby committed an
offence.
The facts of the case as presented by the prosecuting officer ASP Touray, revealed that on 23rd December 2008, one security officer at the BanjulInternationalAirport received an information that the convict Frank Boers was to travel to Holland and was in possession of photographic material of himself and a Gambian male.
He said upon his arrival at BanjulInternationalAirport
screening room he was confronted with the charge and that he confessed
of being in possession of photographic material of him nude with a
Gambian. He added that a search was conducted on his travelling bag
where ten indecent photographs were found. He was arrested and during
investigation he admitted to the police that he was a frequent visitor
to The Gambia. According to ASP Touray, the convict confessed to the
police that seven years back he was convicted at a tribunal in
Farafenni for the same offence.
The convict admitted that the information as adduced by the prosecution was correct.
Upon his admission to the charge he was convicted and sentenced accordingly.
