Over 200 international and national exhibitors are taking part in this year’s Gambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) biennial Trade Fair which is opening at the Independence Stadium in Bakau some 11 kilometres from Banjul on 14 November.
The Gambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the organisers of the fair, are in readiness for the formal ceremonies for Gambia’s Trade minister to open the fair.
This year’s fair has attracted investors from European countries, Taiwan, Nigeria, Benin, Niger and Guinea-Bissau.
The fair, which will be on till 25 November, aims to avail the private sector means of explorimg business opportunities with foreign exhibitors, GCCI Comminications Officer Beatrice Allen said Wednesday at a press briefing in in her office in Banjul.
Allen said the fair seeks to promote the businesses of the private sector and Gambian business at large.
She disclosed that up to 200 stalls have been erected and completed with some international participants arriving well ahead of Saturday’s opening.
The GCCI official also said the objective of the trade fair is to provide a platform for joint ventures, develop links between Gambian and international busineses and to draw public attention to the role of the private sector, among other things.
Categories of exhibitions include construction, design and architecture ; information and commuincation technology materials ; manufacturing industries ; fashion and design ; agriculture, food production and processing ; car dealers, services, and other suppliers ; financial services and tourism.
