Gambia News : As Tobaski Feast Draws Near WAC/AGIB hold Ram Sale

Dec 09,2007 by

gambia

As Muslims all over the world prepare for the forthcoming feast of Tobaski the West African Cattle Company- Gambia (WAC), in collaboration with the Arab Gambian Islamic Bank, is holding a big Tobaski ram sale. The premises where the sale is taking place is along the Mamadi Maniyang Highway next to the DHL offices.

There are over three hundred rams available as part of the offer and they are reportedly being imported from Senegal, Mali. Some of the rams have also been locally produced. The sale aims to make the upcoming Tobaski Festival as enjoyable as possible for all Gambians.

In an interview with The Point, at the site where the rams are stored, Mr. Jim Filder the President of WAC, said the objective of the sale is to give more Gambians access to quality, affordable rams.

Mr Filder said, “The West African Cattle Company deems it prudent to come in and help ordinary Gambians, who cannot afford the usual cost of sheep”, adding that with the help of some Gambian businessmen they will help Gambians to have access to rams for Tobaski.

Asked why the WAC has collaborated with AGIB in this venture Mr. Filder replied that the bank is giving a helping hand because the two groups regularly collaborate to help the people of The Gambia. He added that his company will negotiate with people to help them get rams at affordable prices.

Mr. Filder called on all ram dealers to come together and help Gambians who need rams for Tobaski. This, he added, is part of the fundamental principle of Islam calling on businessmen to help the needy.
