Gambia News : Banjulinding Woman to Devote 40hrs to Community Service
The
Banjulinding woman, who caused serious bodily harm to her
adopted daughter, will devote 40 hours to community service.
Besides, she was ordered to pay a compensation of D5000 to
her victim.
Ramatoulie Jallow was recently convicted by the Brikama
Magistrates’ Court for causing series of injuries to her
adopted daughter. She added pepper to the injuries and asked
her to take bath, adduced sub-Inspector Saine, the
prosecution officer.
Ramatoulie admitted cutting the child with a razor blade but
denied the allegation of adding pepper to injuries.
“It’s the handiwork of Satan. I don’t think I’m that
arrogant to do what I did,” added she.
Ramatoulie’s action was the aftermath of a report given to
her by her daughters schoolmates that the child was playing
truant from school.

- This evil act is really the opposite actions of the majory of the kindhearted Gambian women I know. I hope the young girl's pain and injustice inflicted on her, be the catalyst for greater observation to the safety and well being of all Gambian children. It pains me to learn that a person of Gambian blood would be so indifferent to a well being of an innocent adopted child. But the journey of protecting a thousand children begins at this one beautiful victim.
I'm a parent of three noble children and a Chief Executive Officer of Adopt-A-Friend, Inc, a New York City foster care contracted agency, so I know what a child abuse is, I just did not expected to come from a lady in our hospitable country.

- this lady deserves real punishment and not community service hours cause she is just satan in person, how can you do that to a child knowing that you have kids too. is only a heartless person that can do this act but God will punish her inshallah and ramatoulie just have faith and know that u be a better person in the future more than her kids.

- act of the devil ? It is very disturbing that all the judge could hand down to her was community service. The Gambian justice system should take a bold stance against child abuse!. She should serve sometime. Makes me sick to my stomach that such acts can be viewed with minor importance in The Gambia.
