Gambia News : Man Jailed for Committing Sodomy with Boy Child
The Kanifing Magistrates Court, presided over by Senior Magistrate Sainabou Wadda-Ceesay, yesterday convicted and sentenced one Ousman Conteh to three years mandatory imprisonment without an option of a fine after having found him guilty of forcing a boy child of nine years into having carnal knowledge of him. The act is in violation of section 147 of the constitution.
The particulars of offence stated that the convict on 7th November 2007, unlawfully had carnal knowledge with a male student aged nine without his consent.
In her ruling Magistrate Wadda Ceesay declared that the unholy practice could not be condoned in our society, noting that such ill behaviour is completely against the norms and values of the society and that therefore the culprit should not be allowed to go scot-free in order to nip the indecent act in the bud.
Sgt. 870 Touray was the prosecuting officer.

- The Judgement is too linient. At least the judge should have sent him to prison for 3 years for performing the act of sodomy and 12 years for statutory rape ( he should have also noted that the boy is a child).
Totallying fifteen (15 years) without parole.

- What a sickening act of disgust. he should be sentence with hard labour . Such acts are not acceptable in our Gambian societyy . D Njie
