Gambia: 32 Nigerian TAC Volunteers Arrive Tomorrow

gambia The first batch of 32 Nigerian Technical Aids Corps Volunteers (TAC) will land at Banjul International Airport, on board Bellview Airlines flight from Lagos, on Friday, February 16.

According to a press release from the Nigerian High Commission in Banjul, the 32 volunteers comprised medical doctors, pharmacists, nurses and teachers, who would be deployed at various parts of country for two years.


The release added that the 32 volunteers would be fully paid by the government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as part of Nigeria's Technical Assistance to the government and people of The Gambia, under the subsisting bilateral agreement between the two countries.
The release stated that the second batch of 32 Technical Aid Corps Volunteer from Nigeria are expected in The Gambia on February 20, while the third batch of 27 volunteers would arrive three days later (February 23).

The High Commission reminded that Nigeria has been sending volunteers to The Gambia in the areas of Judicial, Health, Education (including the University of The Gambia), Agriculture, Trade, Youth and Sports. It indicated that The Gambia has fully embraced the scheme in line with the principles of South-South cooperation.

The High Commission acknowledged that Nigeria is pleased with The Gambia for being a good hosts to Nigerian volunteers over the last years.
