Gambia: Raúl receives president of Gambia
GENERAL of the Army Raúl Castro Ruz, second secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, yesterday received Yahya A. J. J. Jammeh, president of the Republic of Gambia, who began an official visit to our country on May 9.
After the formal reception at the Palace of the Revolution, Raúl and Jammeh had official talks in which they addressed various matters related to the development of bilateral ties between the two countries, particularly the progress of cooperation programs in health with that sister African nation, as well as diverse issues on the international and regional agenda.
Others participating in the meeting on the Cuban side were José Ramón Balaguer Cabrera, minister of public health; Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, acting minister of foreign affairs, and Carlos Martínez Salsamendi, Cuban ambassador in the Republic of Gambia.
On the Gambian side, others present included Fatoumata Jahumpa Ceesay, president of the National Assembly; Bala Garba-Jahumpa, secretary of state for foreign affairs; Nemeh Mc Dool-Gaye, secretary of state for information and communications; Ousman Jammeh, general secretary of the President’s Office and chief of the Civil Service, and Pa Modou Njie, Gambian ambassador in Cuba.
OTHER ACTIVITIES OF THE AFRICAN LEADER
In the morning, Yahya A. J. J. Jammeh placed a floral wreath at the José Martí Monument in the Plaza of the Revolution.
Later, he toured facilities of the Biological Pharmaceutical Laboratories (LABIOFAM), where he was attended by Doctor José A. Fraga, director of that business group.
