Gambia News : Gambian leader calls for harnessing of African resources for development

President Jammeh said while all other continents were represented in the United Nations Security Council, Africa was the only one still without a veto power. He said Africa remained backward in terms of infrastructure development. He cited the example of travelling from one part of Africa to the other when one is often compelled to travel via Europe. This he said is due to the poor infrastructure in the continent such as poor road and telecommunication network.

Therefore, Jammeh said the Africa needs to accelerate its integration process as well as give priority to infrastructure development, which was the theme of the 12th AU summit.
