Gambia News : 98 Gambian peacekeepers depart for Darfur

gambia The eight batches of Gambian peacekeepers, consisting of 98 security agents, left Banjul Friday for Dafur under the African Union peace keeping mission, in Sudan. Addressing the officers before their departure, Chief of Staff, Lt. Col. Yankuba Drammeh, urged them to act and behave in a disciplined, respected and trustworthy manner while in Dafur, adding that they should respect the host country in their day to day dealings there.

Drammeh also advised the soldiers to desist from anything that could tarnish the image of the United Nations, African Union and the Gambian government.

He also urged them to work as a team and not in isolation.
