Gambia News : ILO organises 'capacity training' for Gambians

gambia The International Labour Organisation (ILO) is running a three-day 'capacity training' programme on 'Constitutional Reporting' for Gambians, an official source in The Gambia told PANA on Tuesday.

The source quotes ILO senior official Cecile Balima Vittin as saying, at the start of the training, that the programme was geared towards ensuring decent and conducive environment for workers as well as 'freedom, equity and security' for both working women and men.

"One of the main challenges that we all face is to make markets work better for many people," she said, adding : "Today, over 3,000 people die everyday because of work related accidents and diseases."

The training programme is a product of the agreement by The Gambia and ILO West Africa's sub-regional office, based in Dakar, in October 2008.
