Gambia News : Gambian opposition condemns raid on GPU president's house
The opposition Gambia Moral Congress (GMC) party on Thursday condemned
the ransacking of a house belonging to the President of the Gambia
Press Union (GPU), Ndey Tapha, calling it the 'latest escalation of
insecurity' in the country, the party said in a statement received here
by PANA.
'We urge The Gambian government to make sure that this kind of
certified bandi try was not repated. GMC holds government exclusively
responsible for the protection of Gambians from crimes, including the
prevention of this class of spy-like prohibited intrusion.'
The party also called on the government to ensure that culprits were apprehended and brought to book.
'All
Gambians anxiously await the public condemnation by government of this
apparently well coordinated transgression, and with visible evidence of
immediate extensive operation, to apprehend the culprits as would be
done by any responsible government,' GMC added.
