Gambia News : Aircraft fire forces Jammeh to postpone UNESCO trip
Gambian President Yahya Jammeh and his delegation were forced to call
off their travel to Paris, France, when the presidential jet in which
they were to fly caught fire at the Banjul International Airport
Tuesday night, authoritative sources confirmed to PANA here on
Wednesday.
The sources said the plane caught fire while the President was inspecting a guard of honour as part of the departure ceremony.
A
press release from the State House said due to technical problems,
Jammeh's official trip, scheduled for Tuesday, to Paris, to attend the
35th session of UNESCO General Conference had been postponed.
'The
general public is hereby informed that the proposed official trip by
the President to attend the 35th session of the UNESCO General
conference in Paris, France, has been postponed due to technical
problems.
"Any other changes about the president's trip will be announced in due course,' the statement added.
