Gambia News : Detained Gambian opposition leader charged, released
The detained Campaign Manager of Gambia's main opposition United
Democratic Party (UDP), Femi Peters, appeared before Banjul
Magistrates' Court charged with "organising an unlawful assembly",
sources in Banjul confirmed to PANA Tuesday.
According to the sources, Mr. Peters refused to enter into a plea
when the charges were read out to him in court on Monday in the absence
of a lawyer.
However, he was later granted bail and asked to
return to court on Wednesday when he is expected to take his plea for
the trial process to start.
Gambian Police arrested and detained Mr. Peters on 25 October after his party defiantly held a political rally without a permit.

- You could have a weekly competition, based on who Jammeh will sack or arrest this week. Answers on the back of a postcard. Winner gets a framed print of his most wonderfulness, Mr. President. Yayah, I am being sarcastic, you are just being stupid!

- The phone number for that idiot IGP should be published so Gambians can call and ask him what section of the constitution says that the opposition cannot have a permit to hold their rallies
