Gambia News : Foreigners urged to regularise stay in Gambia
Gambia's Immigration Department (GID) has urged all foreigners living
in the country to regularise their status in an attempt to enforce the
country's immigration laws, according to official sources in the
capital, Banjul.
According to the sources, the Gambian government has also asked
landlords not to allow tenants who failed to regularise their stay in
the country.
Addressing a press conference, GID's Public
Relation Officer, Lamin Manneh, said his office would make sure that
the immigration laws were enforced to 'preva il peace and stability for
all persons living in the Gambia.
'The Gambia Immigration
Department therefore solicits the support and cooperation of all
landlords, agents, owner of premises and the general public at large, "
Manneh said.
Manneh warned that landlords who failed to obey the order, would be arrested and prosecuted.

- why should landlords and compound owners do the Immigration Dept.'s job for them? Maybe if they did their work well at the borders ordinary citizens would be spared these troubles..oh! and also if they stopped taking bribes that should help too
