Gambia News : French visa to be issued in Gambia
The French Ambassodor to the Gambia, Jean Christophe Ruffin, has disclosed that he had unveiled to Gambian leader Yahya Jammeh his country's new innovation of processing French visas for Gambians in the country, instead of the previous arrangement of processing the document in Dakar, Senegal.
PANA reports, quoting the Gambia Radio and Television Services broadcast on Wedn esday, that Ruffin made the disclosure to Jammeh when he called on the president at the State House.
Speaking to reporters shortly after his audience with the President, Ruffin said he had the opportunity to discuss international politics, the Gambia-European U n ion cooperation, amongst a host of issues with his host.
According to the ambassador, the visa initiative will kick off very soon, adding that French President Nicholas Sakozy’s foreign policy towards Africa, is aimed at promoting legal and economic immigration.
“We don’t want to encourage immigration of people who want to leave their countr y without any prospects. Our common interest is to provide the opportunities for Africans to participate in the development of their various countries and those who want to study in our country for the purpose of participating in the development of their countries,” he noted.
