Gambia News : Gambia Foreign Affairs Minister sacked

Gambia's Foreign Affairs Minister, Dr. Omar Touray, has been relieved of his post by President Yahya Jammeh.

The president immediately named Ousman Jammeh, the Minister for Energy and Petroleum, to replace Touray.

According to a press statement, monitored on the Gambian Radio and Television Services, the president gave no reason for dismissing Dr. Touray but merely said he was acting in accordance with the powers invested in him.

Dr. Touray was appointed minister early this year.

  • With the appointment of Ousman Jammeh as Foreign Minister, Yahya Jammeh can now boast of having an entire Cabinet, with the exception of Primary Education, Tourism and Environment Ministers, comprising entirely of Jolas. A sad story for The Gambia.
