Gambia News: 32 Aspirant Migrants Acquitted and Discharged

Thirty two Gambians who were arraigned in court after they failed in their attempt to travel to spain were recently acquitted and discharged by Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh of the Kanifing Magistrates Court. Magistrate Jammeh made this decision after the prosecutor applied to withdraw the matter.

The police prosecutor, Sergeant 870 Amat Touray, told the court that the state does not intend to proceed with the case. He did not advance any reasons for the withdrawal. The application was granted and the thirty two youths were cautioned and asked to go home.

The thirty two youths were standing trial alleged for reckless and negligent act contracty to section 222. They were alleged to have gathered at Bakau beach at odd hours with intent to travel to Spain.
