Gambia News : Gambian, Mauritanian leaders sign cooperation agreement

Abdallahi of Mauritania have signed a joint agreement, agreeing to c
ement the political and economic relationship between the two countries.
The agreement was signed here Monday at the end of Abdallahi's visit to the Gamb ia.
According to the Gambian Radio and Television Services, the two
leaders, having discussed issues of bilateral, regional and
international interest to both count r ies, reiterated their
determination to further strengthen the bonds of mutual co o peration
between the peoples of both countries.
The two Heads of State also expressed satisfaction with the good
conduct of the recently-concluded fourth Session of the
Mauritano-Gambian Joint Ministerial Com m ission meeting held here 12
February.
They instructed officials of both countries to implement the recommendations of the commission.
On the sub-region and Africa as a whole, both leaders noted with
satisfaction ef forts to achieve peace and security throughout the
continent and commended the e f forts made by the African Union and the
larger international community.
They expressed their determination to work together in fighting all
forms of thr eats to peace, security and stability in their two
countries and, indeed in the e ntire sub-region.
Jammeh later awarded Abdallahi the Insignia of the Grand Commander of the Republ ic of The Gambia.
