Gambia News : Gambia police arrest 5 newspaper staff for paper pilfering

gambia Five staff members of the government-owned Daily Observer newspaper Company have been arrested, Assistant Superintendent of Police Kebba Ansu Sawaneh, the Officer Commanding CID Kanifing Division, confirmed to PANA Wednesday.

Destiny Omox, a vendor, Alieu Demba, Kajali Mass, Sulayman Sowe, all printers and Lamin Bojang, a security officer, were in the early hours of Tuesday arrested for allegedly stealing copies of newspapers of the company.

According to Sawaneh, an ambush was laid at the Observer premises following a tip-off that some staff are engaged in illegal sales of copies of the newspaper.

He said that in the early hours of Tuesday, the five suspects were apprehended with 200 copies, adding that another suspect, Bakery Jammmeh, is on the run while others are being investigated.
