Gambia News : Gambia police interrogate Point Editor over nationality
Mr. Pap Saine, editor of the Point newspaper, was Monday interrogated by the Serious Crime Unit of the Gambia Police Force about his nationality, authoritative sources confirmed to PANA.
Sources said the police invited Saine in the morning and on his arrival he was questioned by Assistant Superintendent of Police Malang Ceesay whether he is a Gambian or not.
In response, Saine was said to have brought out his birth certificate, passport and national identification card, adding that he also went to his house and brought his late father's national documents.
According to the sources, after ASP Ceesay went through the documents, he asked Saine to go and that whenever the police needs him, he will be contacted.
Ndey Tapha Sosseh, President of Gambia Press Union confirmed Saine's invitation to PANA, adding that she was at the police station with him during the interrogation It would be recalled that Saine was arrested and charged for false publication and broadcasting and he appear in court last week.

- Pap Saine is a bonafide Gambian citizen unlike Yaya Jammeh and his gang of thugs. All of them came from across the boarder, thanks to the great relationship we have with Senegal that Jammeh wants to jeopardize. Ansu Koroma is right, Pap Saine is more gambian than Asombi and Jemus.

- C´est horrible d´entendre des choses pareilles en Gambie.Au moment ou les presidents Africains travaillent pour l´unification de l´Afrique,des gens se permettent de se poser la question si tel ou tel est Malien ou Ivoirien.Honte pour la police Gambienne.Ns sommes au 21 eme siecle.Pape Saine est un Senegambien fier et digne.Laissez le tranquille sinon.......

- At least we know Pap Saine is Gambian. Can we say the same of Yahya Jammeh with equal confidence? I doubt it.
