Gambia News : Gambia welcomes Obama's pledge
Gambia's Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Omar Touray, says Gambia is
happy with US President Barack Obama's pledge that justice, tolerance
and mutual respect will mark the change he advocates.
Touray made the remarks Tuesday night at the Obama inauguration
reception, organized in Banjul by the US Ambassador to The Gambia, Mr.
Barry Wells.
The minister said he was confident that the promised change would bring back peace and security that have long eluded the world.
"Once
again, The Gambia extends a hand of friendship to the US and its
people. We trust that we will see change not only in international
affairs but also in bilateral relations, and I am confident that with
the heightened sense of justice, tolerance, mutual respect and
fair-play, we can promote our mutual interest and attain our common
objectives.

- It must be clear that President Obama in his pledge for tolerance included (amongst others) gays and non-believers. President Obama is a true Democrate, who is able to set aside his personal believes to include and acknowledge that of others. If only the Jammeh government could be so wise!
True wisdom involves respecting other believes, religions and convictions than your own. For governments, and especially governments that call themselves democrates, this means you don't prosecute gays, christians or non-believers for what they are.
By welcoming Obama, the Gambian government really rejects everything it stands for.
