Gambia News : Gambian leader appoints a new finance minister
President Yahya Jammeh of The Gambia has appointed a new Finance and
Economic Affairs minister, about a week after the sacking of the
incumbent Musa Balla Gaye, APA learns here Saturday.
The new minister is Abdou Kolley, who, until his appointment was the Minister of Trade, Industry and Employment.
This latest appointment means that there are still at
least four vacant cabinet portfolios that are yet to be filled by
President Jammeh, all of which are presently being directly handled by
him. These vacant portfolios include Information and Communication
Technology; Higher Education, Science and Technology; Agriculture; and
Defense.
However, with the redeployment of Abdou Kolley to the
Finance ministry, it also means that the ministry of Trade, Industry
and Employment is now also vacant and needs a replacement.
