Gambia News : Gambian leader receives Libyan invitation to next Arab-African summit
The Gambian leader, Yahya Jammeh on Monday received in audience at State House in Banjul, Muktar Al-Gannas, an envoy of Libyan leader Muamar Qaddafi inviting him to the forthcoming second Arab-African Summit scheduled to be held in Tripoli, Libya, from October 10th, 2010.
Accompanied to State House by Gambian Foreign Affairs Minister, Dr Mamadou Tangara and Dr Ali Muhammed Dukaly, the Libyan ambassador to The Gambia, Al-Gannas told journalists after his audience with President Jammeh that the purpose of his trip was to deliver the letter to the President.
Al Gannas also added that the audience with President Jammeh afforded them an opportunity to look into the longstanding bilateral ties between The Gambia and Libya. He said their discussions were on how to further develop the relationship and prepare the atmosphere for investments so that Libyan firms can explore business opportunities in The Gambia
