Gambia News : Ghananian VP claims justice for 44 slain compatriots in Gambia
Vice President John Mahama has reiterated his desire to seek justice for some 44 Ghanaians brutally murdered in Gambia in 2003.
He told Journalists in Accra he has called for a briefing from the ECOWAS committee mandated to investigate the matter, and a decision will be taken thereafter.
He assured government will seek adequate compensation from the Gambian authorities to appease the relatives of the victims, adding, bodies of the victims would be retrieved for the appropriate burial ceremony to take place in Ghana. Vice President Mahama was an ardent critic of the Kufuor administration and advocated for a tougher stance to be taken on Gambia.
He suggested government must sever diplomatic relations with Gambia until they cooperate with investigations.
Not even the United Nations emissary tasked with the responsibility to investigate the killings have made any headway, at least for now, but have shown no signs of giving up, until they get to the bottom of the killing.
Vice president Mahama said a lot more pressure will be mounted on the Gambia to extract more information on the details of the killing.

- It is just like a dream to me, until every thing that has been said on both sides be proven .But i see no reasen why ! As gambia has been known for his hospitality for the whole region. But if there is prove that this has happen on our belovet soil ,the time has come for all Gambians to come out for condemning those acts of indesent life.

- Ceesay, If the Gambian government has nothing to hide, then tell me why it is impeding the investigation by Ecowas & the independent Ghanian investigators ? Shouldn't we be helping them with all possible resources if we claim to be friends ?
