Gambia News : Jammeh Disagrees with West’s handling of International Affairs Deplores Saddam Hussein’s Killing as Unjust
By Baboucarr Senghore Src: Point, Gambia The In what could be called his most unambiguous statement yet against the system of justice that administered the trial and execution of the deposed Iraqi President, Saddam Hussein, Alhagie Yahya Jammeh has strongly criticized what he termed the West’s action of killing the then Iraqi leader, saying that the move was indicative of West’s provocation and fight against Islam. “From the day of the invasion to now, how many millions of Iraqis have lost their lives, livelihood and freedom? What is amazing is that they said Saddam has killed 148 people, and was killed by hanging,” he added.
According to President Jammeh, they killed Saddam for killing 148 people, who attempted on his life. He was however quick to add that the law says that anybody who attempted on a president’s life should pay the price. “We know those who killed him, because we know that he was not killed by the Iraqis, but people outside Iraq,” he said.
Jammeh further charged what he called the “Coalition of evil and Satan” for hiring mercenaries to kill Iraqis at will, citing Black Water as an example.
“In Europe, we have the neo-Nazis and in America you have KKK, who in every December used to kill blacks and burn black churches using the cross; and the government of the United States have not declared them as terrorists, but they can call Hamas and Hisbullah terrorist organizations because they are Muslims and we Muslims accept that,” he asserted.
Jammeh expressed the view that the West has been using Muslims’ wealth to fight them. “Every day they provoke Islam, both in their media and by politicians. Unfortunately they are using our wealth in some Muslim countries to fight against Islam and a typical example is what is happening in Iraq today.”
The people of Iraq, Jammeh went on, would prefer Saddam Hussein’s government to what is happening there today.
President Jammeh expressed the concern that in the 21st century, Islam is being fought by very powerful enemies, noting that instead of Muslims being united, they allow themselves to be pitted against each other.
“There is what is called the fight against terror. Yes, it is true that terror must be fought against, but those who lead the fight against terror are themselves fighting against Islam, which is unacceptable,” he said, adding that today in the so-called fight against terror, only one set are claimed to be terrorists, that is the Muslims.
According to Jammeh, the Muslim Ummah are the richest people in the world but the poorest of the poor are found among the Muslims, because the faith of most of the authorities is so weak that they tend to worship West and at the same time worship Allah. This, he opined, has resulted in Allah punishing Muslims.
