Gambia News : Jammeh appoints new Gambian army chief
Gambian President Yahya Jammeh has named Serign Modou Njie as the country's new chief of Army Staff, PANA confirmed from here Monday.
This came in the wake of the high-profile sackings, arrests and changes within the ranks of Gambian Armed Forces.
According to government sources, Brigadier General Ousman Badjie was named deputy chief of Defence Staff.
The appointments take effect from 11 March.
