Gambia News : Jammeh receives report on 'faulty' Gambian presidential jet

gambia A technical report from the Gambian Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has revealed that the presidential jet which aborted its flight to the Gulf State of Qatar, was affected by a "bird strike", official sources confirmed to PANA Tuesday.

The report was presented to Jammeh.

On 24 October, Jammeh boarded the presidential jet for a trip to Qatar but had to cancel the flight barely two hours after take off as a result of "technical problems".

According to the GCAA report, the bird strike occurred as the jet took off from the Banjul International Airport and while in flight, the captain experienced compressor surge and decided to return to the airport where he safely landed.

"A runway inspection was carried out after the aircraft landed and a dead bird was found on runway 14 with head injury."

It was the second time in less than a month that Jammeh had to cancel his overse as trip owing to flight problems.
