Feb 17,2010 by

gambia
Two Gambian journalists reporting for the independent Daily News were on Tuesday invited by Mr Enassa Badjie, Inspector General of Police (IGP), to express his disappointment at an article the newspaper published on 15 February.

Lamin Njie and Saikou Ceesay reported at the office of the IGP at 1200 GMT in the company of Mr Madi Ceesay, Publisher and editor of Daily News, and Mr Ahmed Alota, Executive Director of the Gambia Press Union.

According to the article 'New Police line in deplorable state' the structures of the buildings at the place are dilapidated, with poor sanitary conditions.

Although the Police public relations officer confirmed the report, the IGP went ahead to caution the journalists not to publish articles critical of the government.

  • He just seems like a bad guay in a false uniform and completely misunderstood the full purpose of his uniform. And as our independent day, he should sing well what the Gambian national anthem really mean before he wear that uniform.
