Number of Tourists to Increase by 9.2%

Preliminary estimates show that the number of tourists expected to visit The Gambia in the 2006/7 winter season will increase to 9.2 per cent, a press release, announcing the return of the secretary state for tourism and culture from the World Travel Market held in London has revealed.

Secretary of State Angela Bernadette Colley returned from London last Saturday where she led a team comprising staff of her department of state, Gambia Tourism Authority and other stakeholders in the tourism trade to this year’s World Travel Market (WTM). The WTM is the second largest tourism and travel exhibition in the world and was held from the 6 to 9 November at the Excel exhibition grounds in London.
