Gambia News : Shamed British sprinter Dwain Chambers set to visit The Gambia
Dwain Chambers remains full of enthusiasm for the forthcoming athletics season despite continued restrictions on where he can compete.
The 31-year-old Londoner, who served a two-year suspension after testing positive for the designer steroid THG in August 2003, is remaining upbeat but again faces a slender competition schedule in 2010 due to a ban imposed on convicted doping offenders at more than 50 events organised by Euromeetings.
"The national trials and the world indoors are top of the list. Then I will get myself ready for the European Championships." Chambers told Press Association Sport.
First, Chambers will depart for Gambia, where he will supervise a week-long coaching course for Gambia's top sprinters as part of their build-up to the 2012 London Olympic Games.
"I have been invited by the Gambian government," he added.
"I will be there to help their athletes gain a better understanding of the mental and physical aspect of training.
"I believe that this is an important investment, as athletes within the Gambia and west Africa are now being given the opportunity to live out their dreams of one day becoming an Olympic champion."
