Gambia News : Gambia U-17 national team qualify for African youth championship

gambia The Gambian national U-17 football team Saturday beat their Ghanaian counterparts 2-0 to qualify for the African youth soccer championship holding in Algeria in 2009.

In the match played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau, Gambia took the lead in the 57th minute through Omar Colley and the second goal came only two minutes later through Alhassan Camara.

Although they dominated the first half of the match, the visiting Ghanaians could not score because the Gambians played defensively.

The U-17 team is Gambia's only remaining side on international duty with the U-20 and senior national teams already shown the the way out in their respective competitions.
