Gambia News : Gambia humiliates Sierra Leone 4-1 in U17 CAN soccer qualifier

gambia The Gambian Under-17 national football team Sunday defea ted their Sierra Leonean counterparts 4-1 in the African nations' cup championship qualifier here.

Saikou Gassama put the hosts on victory path with his 37th minute strike and both teams later squandered penalty chances in the first half.

The Sierra Leoneans equalised in the 44th minute through Ahamed Kanu but barely five minutes into the second half, the Gambians went up 2-1 with a strike from Ebrima Bojang who was to double his strike in his debut for the national team for the fourth goal (in the 86th minute) after Slikan Manneh's goal for the host's third goal.

The return leg will be played in Freetown in two weeks time.
