Gambia News : MRI test results of U-17 footballers not for public knowledge
Officials of the Gambian Football Association (GFA) have agreed to "protect the image of Under-17 players" following the conduct of the MRI test on their players in Dakar, the Senegalese capital, recently. MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) is a medical device for checking the real ages of players.
Jammeh Bojang, the Secretary General of the GFA, said here Friday that the results of the MRI test was not for the public and that he and the entire officials of the GFA would protect the boys' images.
According to him, any player qualified for the competition will be selected while officials are not here to disclose those who are not qualified.
He also disclosed that the GFA had released plans for the team's UK training camp, next week, ahead of the FIFA under-17 world cup to be hosted by Nigeria in October.
He said the Gambian players would jet into the United Kingdom 25 September, and their first port of call would be the Chelsea Football Academy.
"They will then embark on light training 26 September before playing their first test game the following day against the USSF of the US," Bojang said, adding that the Baby Scorpions (as the Gambian team is called) would play against Chelsea Academy, Reading FC, and then Portsmouth Academy on 7 October.
The Gambia U-17 players will also play against Tottenham Hotspur Academy 10 October and play their last game in their UK camp on 15 October against Leicester City before returning to The Gambia 17 October to complete their three-week training programme.

- I support the first comment that the Test of the Baby Scorpions should not be a subject of public Debate. Our boys must be protected. However I expect the GFA, to inform the Gambian that out of the X Number who took the test X qualified.

- This should be handled privately between FIFA & GFA & not become a public sideshow. I feel sorry for the young lady from South Africa who won the world 1500m recently. That became a freakshow & an embarrassment to all. Boys, be honest to yourselves.

- Gambia has become a pitiful nation. Why don't you be honest with Gambians and release the test results of the MRI which are worse than I predicted. Not a single member of the U-17 footballers passed because the youngest footballer is 19 years old.
