Ghana’s Under 17 national team Black Starlets on Sunday put up an impressive performance to beat their Gambian counterparts, Young Scorpions 3-1 in the first leg of their African Under 17 Championship Qualifier in a match played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi. 
The Starlets took the lead in first half but was equalised before half time bringing scores to 1-1.  After recess, Starlets increased the tempo of the game and scored two goals to make it 3-1.  The Starlets are expected to play Gambia in two weeks in a return leg in Banjul.  Ghana and Gambia have met twice at both Under 17 and Under 20 African Championship qualifiers.  In the U-20 game, Ghana beat Gambia 2-1 in Accra and 1-0 in Banjul to qualify for the African Youth Championship slated for Rwanda next year.
