Gambia : NICE Gambia Ltd Nominated for 2007 Awards in USA

NICE Gambia Limited, a network of wireless and solar powered multi-utility institution has been nominated for the Tech Museum Awards in Economic Development category in California, USA.

NICE Gambia provides an affordable mix of internet communication and energy services and offers basic infrastructure to people lacking access to modern facilities but also providing IT education, Information and health care promotion in cooperation with large development organizations.

According to a press release from the Tech museum, each year candidates from profit and non-profit companies are nominated and then invited to submit applications.

“The award is an annual program that honors individuals and organizations that are creatively applying technology to benefit humanity,” the release stated.

The release further reveals that the award programme to be held in San Jose, California, was launched in November 2000 and the concept for the award and five universal categories were inspired in part by the state of the future report which recommends that the award recognition is an effective way to accelerate scientific breakthrough and technology applications to improve the human condition.

“The Tech Awards programme inspires global engagement in applying technology to humanity’s most pressing problems by recognizing the best of those who are utilizing innovative technology planet,” the release concluded.
