Gambia: British Couples Donate to GFA

David and Janis Norman, a British couples have donated sporting equipment and a cash amount of D40,000 to The Gambia Football Association at a presentation ceremony held at GFA's secretariat yesterday.Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Alhagi Mbye, an in-law to the couples said Mr and Mrs Norman have since been committed in the assisting Gambian sports and education. He said: " David Norman has personally sponsored many nawettan leagues around the country while his wife has been of great assistance to many schools in The Gambia." Mr Mbye added that the giant trophy, medals and the cash amount are solely meant for the upcoming zonal football championship slated for November 24. Receiving the items on behalf of The Gambia Football Association, Alhagi Mass Axi Gaye, the second Vice-President of Gambia Football Association thanked the couples for the noble gesture, adding that the donations were timely and worthy as zonal football championship committee was facing extreme financial constraints. Alhagi Mass Gye said that the donations will go a long way to ensure a successful organise tournament. For his part, Mr Jammeh Bojang, the Secretary-General of the GFA joined Mr Gye to thanked the donors for what he described as 'benevolent gesture'. Mr Bojang urged other donor agencies to emulate Mr & Mrs Norman's gesture as the Gambia Football Association GFA strive for excellence. |
