Gambia News : Jammeh sacks Gambian Sports Minister

The Gambian President, Yahya Jammeh, Friday sacked the Youth and Sports Secretary (minister), Mass Axe Gai, authoritative sources at the Office of the President informed PANA here.

According to the sources, Mr. Sheriff Gomez has been named as Gai's replacement.

As usual with many ministerial sackings in Banjul, no specific reason has been advanced for the sports minister's removal.

The sack, however, came in the wake of an alleged death threath made by the minister on a local journalist, Ebou Manneh.

The sacked minister was said to have had a row with officials of the Gambian Football Association.
