The Vice-President, World Bank Human Development Network , Ms. Joy Phumaphi, arrived here Wednesday on a two-day official visit to the Department of State for Basic and Secondary Education in the Gambia.

Phumaphi was received by the Secretary of State for the Basic and Secondary Education Fatou Lamin Faye, and other officials.

During her visit, she will work with officials of the sector to strengthen the already cordial relationship, with a view to providing her a strong basis to endorse the newly prepared EFA/FTI proposal which would be presented to the board next month.

The World Bank official and her delegation would, among other engagements, pay a courtesy call on the Gambian Vice President, Mrs. Isatou Njie-Saidy, and witness the signing ceremony of the FTI proposal by in-country partners and stakeholders.

She will also visit the country?s major hospital, the Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital, have a dinner to be hosted in her honour, before she departs for Washingt on DC, via Dakar.
