The government of The Gambia has issued a statement giving a 72-hour notice to the management of Spectrum to provide information to the government regarding the financial status of Gamtel/Gamcel since they took over its management.

The statement, according to GRTS, came from the Office of the President.

According to the statement, the action was necessitated by the fact that Spectrum had failed to deliver on the terms of the agreement it had made with the government.
It added that complaints reaching the authorities also indicate that since Spectrum took charge of Gamtel/Gamcel, the quality of services has decreased significantly, "which in itself is [an] abuse of right of the consumers"
