Gambia News : Gambian diplomat in police net

Financial Attache of the Gambian Embassy in the US, Lamin B. Sanyang, has been arrested and is currently detained at the Gambia Police headquarter in Banjul, where he is helping in investigations over a state matter, authoritative sources confirmed to PANA Tuesday.

Sanyang was recalled by the government and upon arrival, was arrested and detain ed by the police.

According to sources, Sanyang was arrested in connection with his links with the wife of the detained financial director of the National Intelligence Agency, Mr. Bakary Gassama.

Sources further said Sanyang, while in America, was sending money to Mrs. Gassam a for spiritualists, to facilitate the release of her husband who has been detained for more than one year.

Gambian Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent Sulayman Secka , confirmed the arrest and detention of Sanyang, adding that Mrs.Gassama had also been arrested and she is helping the police in their investigation.
