Gambia have secured their place in the final of the African under-17 championship in Algeria.

The Baby Scorpions beat Malawi 4-0 in Algiers, after Niger had been disqualified.

Niger were thrown out of the tournament after questions were raised over the age of one of their players.

Zimbabwe, one of the other teams in their group, had complained to the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

CAF says it "discovered irregularities" regarding the apparent age of Boubacar Talatou, the Niger number 11.

Malawi were drafted in as replacements and so qualify for the under-17 World Cup in Nigeria later this year.

The second semi-final, between the hosts Algeria and Burkina Faso takes place later on Sunday.
