Gambia News : Gambia, Senegal draw in football friendly

The Gambia national under-17 team, the Young Scorpions, drew 1-1 with its Senegalese counterpart in an international soccer friendly played at the independence stadium in Bakau, The Gambia, Saturday.

The match was part of preparations by the Gambian team for the FIFA Under-17 World Cup, to he hosted by Nigeria later this year.

The visiting Senegalese took the lead in the 34th minute through Joseph Loppy, while Gambia equalised 32 minutes into the second half through Abdou Jallow.

The President of the Gambia Football Association (GFA), Seedy Kinteh, said the match was organised to allow Gambians to assess the team before the global competition.
