Taiwanese Prime Minister Arrives Today

The Premier of the Republic of China (Taiwan), His Excellency Su Tseng-Chang, together with Madame Su, are expected to arrive in The Gambia today, accompanied by a high-powered delegation. The Taiwanese Premier comes to grace the inauguration ceremony of President Jammeh as a special envoy of President Chen Shu-bian. According to a Press Release from the Taiwanese Embassy in Banjul, apart from the inauguration ceremony and related activities, Premier Su and his delegation are expected to have audience with President Jammeh and will also meet with high-ranking government officials. He is also expected to see the embassy staff and the technical mission members. Since the resumption of the diplomatic relations in July 1995, the friendly relations between The Gambia and Taiwan have steadily grown from strength to strength: concrete operation has been realised in the areas of agriculture, health education, women empowerment, vocational training and infrastructure development, which have served to ensure livelihood for a lot of people. Premier Su and delegation are scheduled to leave The Gambia on Saturday, 16th December 2006. |
