Gambia News : Gambian leader effects minor cabinet reshuffle

Gambian president Yahya Jammeh has effected a minor cabinet reshuffle, removing four ministers and creating a new ministry.

According to a press release read over the Gambia Radio and Television Services on Friday, the ministers of Fisheries and the Environment, Antouman Saho, Local Government and Lands, Ismaila Sambou, Tourism and Culture, Nancy Njie and Works, Construction and Infrastructure, Lamin Bojang had been removed with effect from Thursday, 4th February.

The release adds that the President has appointed Lamin Kaba Bajo, Pierre Tamba and Fatou Mass Jobe respectively as replacements, while the ministry of Works, Consturction and Infrastructure had been placed under the office of the president.

In the same release, President Jammeh also created a new ministry ; Economic Planning and Industrial Development, redeploying Yusupha Kah, the former Minister of Trade, Industry and Employment to the new ministry, while replacing him with Baboucarr Jallow as the new Trade, Industry and Employment Minister.

Meanwhile, President Jammeh has also appointed Momodou Tangara and Alhaji A. Cham as minsiters of Higher Education, Science and Technology, and Information, Communication and Technology respectively, which had been vacant for the past several months.
