Gambia News : Gambia government warns unregistered organizations

Gambia's Interior Ministry, which is responsible for registering non-governmental organizations (NGOs) , has issued an ultimatum, urging all unregistered organizations to get registered or "face the full force of the law", PANA reported Wednesday.

"The public and the NGOs are hereby informed that the only recognized organizations are those registered with the 'NGO Affairs Agency' as stipulated in Article (1) one of the Protocol of Accord Decree 81," the ministry said in a statement.

According to the statement, groups that are found wanting or "anyone caught will face the full force of the law".

The ministry also called on other government departments not to have any dealings with unregistered groups.
