Football fans in The Gambia on Sunday evening criticized the referee that officiated the game between Brazil and Ivory Coast for not blowing his whistle after Brazilian striker, Luis Fabiano, handled the ball twice before scoring the second goal that put the Samba boys in an unassailable lead in their match against the Elephants in the ongoing World Cup in South Africa.Luis Fabiano admitted after the match that he handled the ball in the build up to Brazil’s second goal which Sven Goran Erickson believes paved the way for the Samba boys to have the upper hand in the game. The furious football fans spent most of their time on Sunday evening complaining that the central referee should have blown his whistle after the Brazil forward handled the ball and that he should have shown him a card for an unsporting behaviour. They added that the second goal demoralized the Elephants and paved way for the Brazilians to score their third goal. However, some fans suggested that Ivory Coast should have concentrated on the game and not allowed the second goal to destabilize them. |
