Information reaching this paper has it that Mr. Famara Jobarteh has now been appointed as the Police Public Relations Officer, otherwise known as spokesperson.

Mr. Jobarteh assumed the functions of this office since February 26th.

Mr. Aziz Bojang, the former holder of the office, is said to have travelled to Sudan on a United Nations peace mission.

Mr. Jobarteh said that the development is a challenge to him, adding that he envisages cordial relationship between his office and the media.

Mr. Jobarteh, who is said to have spent 20 years in the Gambia Police Force, first enrolled with the former Gambia Gendarmerie in 1982.
