The deluxe and serene Sarge's Hotel in Senegambia area was last Friday the scene of chaos and pandemonium engendered by a scuffle between members of the Guinean national football contingent and the security guards at the Hotel.

The ugly incident that occurred around 8pm during the hotel’s Happy Hour entertainment session, left the hotel authorities in an embittered state as cutleries, spoons, tea cups and other items are reported to have been lost during the scuffles. To make matters worse some of the panic-stricken guests reportedly deserted the hotel in droves apparently from fear that their holiday would be spoilt.

Speaking to this paper, Pa Babou Sarge, the Residence Manager of Sarge's Hotel, said that the incident started when officials of the Guinean football squad came to ask their drummers to stop the performance because the players were sleeping and that they needed no disturbance.

“They came and abruptly stopped the show in front of our guests. One of their officials went out to call their fan club numbering 80, who forcefully entered into the hotel. Their officials and the fan club fought with our staff and the security guard on duty. In the process some of our properties were looted and vandalized, ”he lamented.

Also speaking to this paper, Julie, a tourist from the UK, described the attitude of the Guinean national football contingent as rude. “This is a disgrace considering that this is ought to be a professional team. It is hooliganism and it has no place in modern football.”
